September Meeting

Blown-in Insulation

Hawkeye Area Community Action Program is a community nonprofit dedicated to the improvement of life in our communities.

Do you know about HACAP’s Weatherization and Energy Assistance Programs for low income residents? HACAP’s website states, “Weatherization directly benefits low-income households by reducing their energy costs. In the process, it allows people to stop making the critical choice between winter heat and other necessities. Weatherization, however, does more by making local communities a better and more prosperous place to live.”

Chris Ackman, HACAP’s Public Relations and Engagement Manager, will speak to our group this Thursday, September 8, noon at The Longbranch. He will tell us how low income renters can apply for insulation, energy efficient water heaters and even furnaces, to be installed at no cost to the landlord. This will be a great program about a win win situation for both our renters and us.

As always, we need to give a count to The Longbranch by Monday morning, for both room set-up and food. Please let us know you are coming, and indicate how many meals, at [email protected]. It is necessary to let us know by Sunday night.

We hope you can also participate in “A Brush With Kindness” on Wednesday, September 7th, 1:00-4:00 PM, at 1733 2nd Avenue SE. Please email Barb at [email protected] for more information.
